Another Take on Groth’s Idea of Non-People

The Bowery was, for many years, New York’s skid row, home to drifters, alcoholics, the mentally ill, and the down and out single man. This New York Times story details a medical study that took advantage of them on the order of Henrietta Lacks.  In this case they weren’t invisible, but they were treated as less than people.
